If your friend is experiencing an unexpected pregnancy, she’s likely feeling all the feels right now. But as her friend, your support will mean the world.

Knowing how best to support your friend can be difficult, so we’ve compiled a list of the top ways you can help your friend. But be encouraged! Your desire and willingness to help your friend will be monumental in her life and help her feel supported to move forward.

Help Her Learn All She Can About Her Options

Your friend has three options for her pregnancy: parenting, adoption, and abortion. And helping her learn all she can about these options will help her feel empowered to know that she’s making her own fully-informed decision.

The amount of information online can be overwhelming, but at Empower Life Center, we’re here to help. You can help your friend schedule a free, confidential appointment to talk about her options in a safe, supportive environment.

Be There for Her Physically and Emotionally

Pregnancy can cause a lot of difficult emotions to surface on top of feeling tired, sick, or all the above. Here are some ideas for ways you can help meet your friend’s pregnancy needs:

  • Offer to attend your friend’s doctor’s appointments if she finds that helpful.
  • Help your friend complete household chores, like laundry, dishes, cooking dinner, etc.
  • Let your friend know that you’re a safe place to share her feelings and talk about what’s on her mind and heart. You might be the only person your friend has to confide in.
  • Let your friend know that you’ll support her pregnancy decision.
